Navratri Cuisines - Fit for Gods!


One of the most significant festivals of India, Navratri is celebrated with much fanfare and religious fervor across the country. The festival -- much known for worship, dance, and music -- is also famous for its sumptuous cuisines which much delight all gourmets. Actually, the Navratri cuisines are an important part of the world celebrated Indian cuisines.

A broad range of dishes, without using garlic and onion, are prepared during Navratri, with each region coming out with its own distinct specialty. While grains are not used for making some of the tastiest and some of the most mouth-wateringNavratri fares, some of the spices are also avoided. Just red chilies, turmeric and cumin seeds and rock salt are used. But, there is no restriction on the usage of milk, curd, fruits and nuts.

The food prepared for the occasion varies from area to area. Even the choice of vegetables remains different. And, it amply shows in the food offerings by different regions.
