Tarot Reading is Adapting to Modern Era

Tarot reading is an ancient occult which has survived centuries of moulding to emerge stronger and more popular every time. What started as a deck of cards for playing, became a tool for seeing one’s life and present path from a different point of view using intuition. Tarot readings are a reflection of existing energies surrounding a person. It is capable of shining light on the darkest corner of the human soul and guiding a person to make proper choices, avoiding obstacles, as he moves along life’s path.

Earliest record of the tarot cards are believed to have been made in 1392 for King Charles VI. But the authentic ones date to the beginning of 15th century in Milan. They were designed by the Visconti and Visconti-Sforza families.

Some historians are of the opinion that tarot cards could have originated from China, as cards were used there as early as in the 10th or 11th century. Some swear by Egypt, but lack of evidence makes the theory assumptive.

The Rider-Waite deck, the most popular of the tarot cards was invented in 1910 and it used ideas and symbols from true Kabbalah and Hermeticism including the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

The Tarot deck is composed of 78 cards, divided into two parts - The Major Arcana(consisting of 22 cards) and The Minor Arcana(consisting of 56 cards). These are dealt to create a forecast of a person’s situation in life. The illustrations and titles used may seem to be from a different era to the seeker today, but they easily apply to modern life and its upto a good tarot reader to relate to the cards with his intuition.

Although Tarot reading has always been about the ‘tactile’ relation between the cards, seeker and reader, now it has evolved with time, and become net friendly in this modern world of social networking. Innumerable free tarot reading apps are available on the net for the media savvy audience. The only thing to watch out for, is a good app verses a bad one.

Some free tarot reading apps which have proved to be good are:
The Fool’s Dog, LLC - iOS and Android - This app is good as it uses ten different decks and gives you a chance to create an intuitive bond with the cards, before you start dealing with the one you like.
Phuture Me Ltd - iOS - This app is also great as it provides an added bonus of Numerology thrown in. The tarot section incorporates the numerology themes and makes the reading more interesting.
Golden Thread Tarot(Tina Gong) - iOS and Android - This is wonderfully designed to be a fun and mobile companion to the Tarot, with a custom built log, serving as Tarot journal. One also has the option to use a physical deck, instead of a digital one.

Android users can also try the Galaxy Tone, if they are looking for more options.

Like most bodies of esoteric knowledge, probably tarot reading too, can never be understood and explained fully, either face to face or through a digital media, but apps have the advantage of being economical and maintaining secrecy of a seeker.

The History of Tarot Reading

Tarot card reading invariably conjures up visions of 'that' old gypsy women sitting in front of her crystal ball in a misty room full of weird things. The word 'Tarot' itself has that aura of mystery around it since no one knows exactly where or when Tarot reading originated. Most of the recorded history of the tarot cards comes from Italy, although historians are sure of its existence much before that.
Tarot may have been derived from ancient Egyptian tablets (since the concept of Egyptian hieroglyphics and some Tarot symbols are same-silent figures that speak only by their appearance and representation) or from the Chaldeans' secret texts.
Some believe that the Tarot was brought to Europe by the Knights Templar after the Crusades while others believe it is the gypsies who would indulge in Tarot reading, while they travelled through the continent in the Middle Ages.

Historians have found evidence that the 78 card Tarot decks were used while Tarot reading to tell fortunes in Italy and France during the Renaissance. Researchers believe that the present day playing cards could be a by-product of these early tarot decks.
Inspite of the various theories, one fact is certain; that Tarot card readings has seen the light of day for the past seven hundred years as one of the Western world's most important source of mystical knowledge!

Some tarot historians are of the view that the tarot cards were first created as a game called Triumph, that was similar to the game of 'Bridge' today. The game was referred to as 'Tarocchi'(which became Tarot later) and it spread quickly to all parts of Europe.

Soon, the symbols on the cards were noticed by the followers of occult in France and England and they started using them as a divination tool and it soon became a part of occult philosophy.
However, the tarot readings were still quite simple back then.

By the eighteenth century, the tarot readers had started assigning specific meanings to each card and a complex analysis of the tarot was published by a French Freemason in 1781. His theory was that the symbols in the Tarot were derived from the esoteric secrets of Egyptian priests and connected it to the legends of Isis, Osiris and other Egyptian Gods.

The first Tarot deck was released in 1791, by Jean-Baptiste Alliette and interest in occult science soon picked up momentum as it became a popular pastime for bored upper class families.
The most popular Tarot card deck, the Rider-Waite deck, was first published in 1909, by a British occultist, Arthur Waite and artist, Pamela Colman Smith.

Today, Tarot card reading is widely sought after and more and more people rely on tarot reading to guide them in their daily lives. Tarot readings help the seekers gain insights into themselves and others and see what the future holds for them. These cards can also be used for meditation and contemplation. The cards are now available in a practically endless selection of designs. The reader can use any deck that he is comfortable with.

Tarot Reading in Modern Times

Tarot reading has always had a mystical aura to it. But there is a strange connect and mind game to it which only the sub conscious understands. Nowadays such apps are becoming big hits in play store and Apple store. But how much insights do these free tarot readings provide the users with? Let's delve into the nitty- gritty of this.

To make such apps or soft wares a programmer has to code the expertise and knowledge of a tarot reader using which he/she reads the faith of a person into a computer program. If this is possible then these apps would save a lot of innocent people from the clutches of fake and fraud tarot readers out there. These free readings could help hundreds and thousands of people who are troubled in life and is seeking a solution. But is it possible for a tarot reader to communicate the knowledge base and analyzing method used in this ancient divination method to an android or I os programmer to make a tarotreading app? Well, there is a certain amount of human interpretation and expertise which is needed for an accurate tarot reading.

Two major methods are used in tarot reading across the world, considering the methods of analysis and interpretation. The basic difference between these two methods is that the first will have fixed meanings for each card and in the second method the tarot reader makes up assumptions and interpretations from the card chosen by a client. The second method depends a lot on the divination ability of a tarot reader. But if a app of this kind has to be made it would be based on the first method, as the meaning of each card is fixed. We can also differentiate tarot reading based upon the questions asked by the Tarot reader. Most accurate method would be the first one, because here there is some sort of divine communication which happens between the tarot reader and the cosmos to find a solution for the issue a client is facing.

Websites and portals which are run by expert tarot readers or which employs such great resources can use these psychic reading apps to showcase the expertise which they have. These free tarot readings will obviously attract prospects to try out a more personalized session with the tarot readers who are available online. Some of these apps provide more than just free readings, they also provide the users with the option to consult expert psychic readers online which is mostly a paid consultation service. It is great to see such ancient divination methods adapt to the changing modern times. But businesses and websites should understand the fact that they would only be able to sustain their success if they are offering anything of value. Tarot reading is a great ancient occult, it should not be maligned by rolling out bogus apps which give out free readings without any logic.
