The film is an action comedy and stars south siren Asin against him in the lead. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Himesh Reshammiya, Paresh Rawal, Raj Babbar and Mukesh Rishi in significant roles.

Set in the backdrop of Punjab, Akshay Kumar plays the role of Bahattar Singh, a local hooligan who helps the cops catch the bad guys (smugglers). No girl in India is ready to get married into his family because of the wrong-doings of his entire family. On the other hand, Indu (played by Asin) is the daughter of a famous gangster Tatya Tukaram Tendulkar (played by Mithun Chakraborty) who just keeps refusing to get married to even the most decent of guys. So our match-maker Mansukh (played by Himesh Reshammiya) tries to hook-up Bahattar Singh and Indu.
